Note that Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) is not available to undocumented children, but starting in 2026, children can purchase health insurance through the state market place. 


Prenatal Care Assistance Program: Maryland Healthy Babies Equity Act

Healthcare provider program designed to provide low-income pregnant women with access to affordable or free prenatal medical care

Services: Routine checkups, lab tests, specialist consultations, delivery services, and 4 month postpartum care.

Eligibility: Typically based on income level, falling below a certain percentage of the federal poverty line.


Emergency Medicaid

Emergency Medicaid (EM) is a program that provides medical coverage for uninsured individuals who have experienced a medical emergency. It's available to people who don't qualify for Medicaid due to their immigration status.

Services: Medical care and services for serious health issues that require immediate medical attention. Conditions like heart attacks, severe pain, and labor and delivery


Access to Care Act 

This Maryland state law will allow undocumented immigrants to purchase health coverage through the state marketplace starting in 2026.


Private Health Insurance: 

Individuals may also be able to enroll in private health insurance plans through Connect for Health Colorado with financial assistance.
